You may have considered taking a marriage compatibility test to determine if you and your significant other were compatible enough to get married. The question of whether a couple needs to take a marriage compatibility test before marriage, rises more often than not in our pre-marital counseling sessions. Or if you’re already married, you might want to know if incompatibility is the reason for your marital problems.
The truth is that all couples are compatible in some ways and incompatible in others. Incompatibility is not the problem. Compatibility does not mean “sameness” or not having conflicts or disagreements. After all you are two individuals who have your own beliefs, views and ways of doing things, and preferences. Compatibility in relationships means the ability to co-exist harmoniously while being individuals who may not always agree or see “eye to eye.”
The key to a successful marriage is in knowing how to discuss disagreements agreeably and work together to find workable solutions. So do you really need to take a marriage compatibility test? We don’t believe that it is as helpful as learning the communication and problem solving skills that are absolutely essential to successfully manage your differences.
