3 Ways to Nurture Your Marriage

Nurture Your MarriageAll living things, including our most important relationships, need to be nurtured. The question is how do you nurture your marriage—how do you nurture your relationship?

The question, especially marriage, is an important one because we believe that it is essential ingredient in keeping families together. There are many ways to nurture your relationship; we’d like to offer the following three we believe are important.

Nurture Your Relationship By Being Attentive and Affectionate

This means that you listen to each other with an open heart. Pay close attention to each other’s moods that are often influenced by various life experiences. And when you believe that support might be needed or appreciated, affectionately and lovingly offer that love and support. If you’re not sure if it’s wanted or how it might best be provided, simply ask your partner to tell you.

Nurture Your Relationship By Expressing Gratitude and Appreciation

Most partners are constantly giving whatever is needed for the benefit of the marriage, the relationship, and/or the family. It is essential that partners acknowledge each other for those things that they contribute by the simple expression of gratitude and appreciation to each other. When partners feel appreciated, they are more likely to do even more.

Nurture Your Relationship By Spending Quality Time Together

A complaint we often hear are couples who long to spend more time together alone doing the kinds of things they did when they were dating. Even with all the demands on your time, you must nurture your relationship by creating regular, consistent time for each other—preferably on a weekly basis.

Attentiveness, care, and devoting time are all important aspects of nurturing—including relationships. So, to keep your connection strong and viable, remember to take the time to nurture your relationship.
